10 a.m. Count Basie Theatre Street Talks – Future of Storytelling

Indie Street filmmakers and special guests open up to young creatives on ways to adapt in an ever-changing distribution landscape.

11 a.m. Red Bank Middle School Saturday Morning Cartoons

A hour’s worth of PG films from our in-competition animated shorts, but you don’t have to be a kid to enjoy Saturday cartoons. The kid-friendly program includes these titles:

12 p.m. Bow Tie Cinemas Romeo Is Bleeding

A fatal turf war between neighborhoods haunts the city of Richmond, California. Donté Clark transcends the violence in his hometown by writing poetry about his experiences.

1 p.m. Red Bank Middle School 65 Percent

Cameron Wohl was diagnosed with a rare and potentially life-threatening auto-immune disease at the age of 13. It wasn’t long before doctors revealed that there was no cure and he would inevitably need a life-saving liver transplant.

After her family attempts to sell her into marriage, a young Afghan refugee in Iran channels her frustrations and seizes her destiny through music.

3 p.m. Bow Tie Cinemas Auld Lang Syne

How long is too long to wait for your dream? Can art change the world? Are we all doomed? Director Johanna McKeon presents the world premiere of her film about old friends and artistic passion. Auld Lang Syne is a darkly funny meditation on the creative class, global warming, and the power of damn fine pie.

4 p.m. Jamian’s Food and Drink Flying Fish Happy Hour

Passholders are invited to come in and cool off with a cold beer compliments of Flying Fish Brewery and Jamian’s Food & Drink.

4:30 p.m. Red Bank Middle School Narrative Shorts – “Bound”

Highlighted by the short film “Curmudgeons,” Danny DeVito’s ode to his late friend and actor David Margulies, this selection of narrative shorts explores the power of human connectedness and its ability to break down walls of societal expectations.  “Bound” will include the following films:

7 p.m. Count Basie Theatre Awards Ceremony + Closing Night Film, Little Men

And the winners are… Be a part of history as the the first Indie Street Film Festival Award winners are announced and two filmmakers win a theatrical release in New York.

The event will be followed by the closing-night film “Little Men,” directed by Ira Sachs, starring Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Ehle.

10 p.m. Gotham Closing Night After Party (passholders only)

Celebrate the week of independent art and film.
