Trey Cummings Named MVP and Long Jump Champion
Trey Cummings, a senior at RBR, recently was named MVP of the Middletown High School North Lion Invitational. Trey won the Long Jump at the Lion Invitational by jumping a personal best 22’5″, and placed 3rd in the 100m dash, and 4th in the 200m dash on the same day. Trey followed that performance up by qualifying for the Adidas Outdoor National Championship meet in the 4x200m relay with Peter Gallina, Micah Eagles, and Ahmare Bonus on May 1. Most recently, Trey won the Monmouth County Long Jump title, claiming his first County championship title. Trey will be attending Rider University next year and running for the Broncs.

Girls’ Lacrosse Team Reaches Career Milestones
The Girls’ Lacrosse team has an exceptional group of juniors who recently achieved significant career milestones:

  • Nora Tavares reached 300 saves
  • Chloe Keating scored 100 goals
  • Karlie Ruland achieved 100 points

The future is bright for the RBR Girls’ Lacrosse team. These athletes play with heart, experience, and athleticism, and we look forward to their continued success.

RBR Defeats CBA in Historic Boys’ Lacrosse Victory
On Monday, May 5, under challenging conditions with wind gusts reaching 25 miles per hour and steady rain falling, Red Bank Regional and Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) faced off in a highly anticipated Boys’ Lacrosse matchup. The game kicked off at 4:45 p.m. on the turf at RBR, and by the final whistle, history had been made.

For the first time in program history, Red Bank Regional (10–6) emerged victorious over CBA in Boys’ Lacrosse. Calling the team and fans “excited” would be an understatement—this was a milestone moment filled with emotion, pride, and celebration.

RBR’s win was fueled by strong individual performances and a cohesive team effort.

  • Junior Owen Montgomery was a force in goal, recording 15 crucial saves.
  • Senior Jack Tavares contributed 2 goals and 1 assist.
Junior Gabe Pape added 2 goals and 3 assists, making key plays throughout the game.

While the stats highlight the stars, the victory was a testament to the hard work, unity, and resilience of the entire team. Congratulations to RBR Boys’ Lacrosse on this historic achievement!

Jack Levy Sportsmanship Awards
On Sunday, May 4, the Shore Conference of High Schools hosted the Jack Levy Sportsmanship Awards Breakfast. This event honored one male and one female student-athlete from each school who exemplified leadership, integrity, and sportsmanship—on the field, in school, and in their communities.

Representing Red Bank Regional were:

  • Abigail Petrone, Captain of the division-winning Girls’ Swimming Team, who will attend the University of South Carolina.
  • Quinn Gibb, Golf Team Captain, multi-sport athlete (soccer and basketball), and student leader serving as Vice President of both Key Club and Future Business Leaders of America. Quinn will attend the University of Georgia.

Congratulations to Abby and Quinn on this well-deserved recognition. They have represented their families and the entire RBR community with pride and integrity. We wish them all the best as they embark on their next chapter.

A Heartfelt Thanks to the Buc Backers
The RBR parent organization, the Buc Backers, continues to go above and beyond in supporting our student-athletes. Once again, they generously provided commemorative apparel to celebrate our division-winning teams. On behalf of the Boys’ Soccer Team, Boys’ Basketball Team, and Girls’ Swimming Team, thank you for your dedication and generosity. Your enthusiasm for all things “Bucs” is matched only by the deep appreciation of our students, parents, and coaches. As the saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child,” and the Buc Backers are an essential part of that village.
