The bollards are up.
Red Bank’s now-annual closure of the northermost section of Broad Street to vehicles began early Monday as a borough crew raised the retractable metal bollards that will keep cars and trucks out until September.
“Broadwalk” creates a pedestrian-only plaza with expanded areas for outdoor dining and roster of events throughout the spring and summer months.
By ordinance, the closing of Broad Street between Front Street and White Street runs from the second Sunday in May to September 30.
As of now, none of the major online betting platforms offer a wager on when the first car will crash into the bollards this year.
Broadwalk’s schedule of events begins Saturday, May 17 as the The Red Bank Animal Welfare Committee and Fins & Feathers present the 2nd annual Dog Walk on BroadWalk. The afternoon will feature music, pet activities, a pet-friendly gardening demonstration, and adoption opportunities from Louie’s Legacy animal rescue.

“Bring your leashed dog and enjoy a yappy hour on BroadWalk” reads an announcement from Red Bank RiverCenter. The event runs from 11 am to 3 p.m
