A common raven spent a long time calling out from the steeple of St. James Church on Broad Street in Red Bank last week.
Ravens have become more common in Red Bank in recent years. This observer saw virtually zero between the years of 2003 and the late 2010’s, but they have become an almost daily sight in the past few years.
Ravens belong to the corvid family of birds which, several of which, including ravens,are known for their intelligence.
Red Bank is home to four species of corvids, including American crows; fish crows, and blue jays. While this remains unconfirmed, this observer believes they are secretly in charge of everything that happens in town.
