ARREST MADE IN FAIR HAVEN ARMED ROBBERY

A suspect in the armed robbery of a Fair Haven antiques shop in early June has been arrested, borough police reported Friday.

From the FHPD:

On 8/31/12, members of the FBI, Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Fair Haven and Wall Police Department’s arrested Robert Fiolka, 68, Staten Island, NY subsequent to the investigation of an Armed Robbery that occurred at Blue Stove Antiques in Fair Haven on 6/2/12. A warrant was issued by the FBI for the arrest of Mr. Fiolka charging him with the robbery. Sgt. [Jesse] Dykstra and Det. [Stephen] Schneider of the Fair Haven Police Department investigated.

Schneider told redbankgreen that local authorities were unable to comment and referred inquiries to the Red Bank office of the FBI. A call to that office was not immediately returned.

The robbery occurred at 9:21 on a Saturday morning, and the robber, who was wearing a disguise and carrying a revolver and a portable police scanner, emptied the contents of the store’s safe into a gym bag and fled the scene. Proceeds include mostly jewelry and watches, police said at the time.
