Friday, February 1

SHREWSBURY: Shrewsbury’s branch of the Monmouth County Library will host Dr. Janice Thomas from Brookdale Community College at 11 a.m. To kick-off the First Friday for Seniors series, Thomas will put on a presentation outlining her trip to India during which she learned about the culture and education system. 1001 Route 35 North.

MIDDLETOWN: Athlete Kyllian Warman returns to her Middletown roots to discuss how she was able to achieve her 2012 New Year’s resolution of running 2012 miles– and plans to run 2013 miles this year – at the Main Library at 2 p.m. Tying into this, she will also share the ways she sets goals and overcomes obstacles. 55 New Monmouth Road.

LINCROFT: Christian Brothers Academy starts its annual art show and sale by hosting a preview celebration from 7 to 11 p.m. The event will feature wine and hors d’oeuvres by Merri Makers, plus live music. The $60 admission also includes reentry to the weekend’s art and antique show. RSVP online here. Newman Springs Road.

RED BANK: Rescheduled from November, the Red Bank Library used book sale kicks off with a preview party from 7 to 9 with wine, cheese, auction items, and live music. The $20 admission (free for members) offers first pick to the sale the next day. 84 West Front Street.

RED BANK: The Masters of Illusion bring their TV show to the stage at Count Basie Theatre for a live display from Farrell Dillon, Michael Giles, Angela Nicole, and Rick Thomas at 8 p.m. Tickets are $29-79. 99 Monmouth Street.

Saturday, February 2

MIDDLETOWN: The Lions Club Charitable Foundation will host its seventh annual Lions Pancake Breakfast at Applebee’s from 8 to 10 a.m. The $10 cost will benefit the Middletown Disaster Relief Fund. LINCROFT: The Christian Brothers Academy’s annual art show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. $5 entry with an offered café. Newman Springs Road.

RED BANK: For the fourth annual Red Bank Library fundraiser, the used book sale features children’s books, CDs, DVDs, and a variety of books both new and old from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free entry; $10 for early admission. 84 West Front Street.

RED BANK: The Art Alliance of Monmouth County will host an opening reception for the shows “Body Language” and “Riot of Color” from 6 to 8 p.m. Judge Sandra Roberts is also featured as this month’s window artist. The exhibit continues during regular gallery hours (Tuesday through Saturday 12 to 4 p.m.) through February 23. 33 Monmouth Street.

RED BANK: Holy Cross School of Rumson will host its annual benefit at the Molly Pitcher Inn at 7 p.m. to raise funds for art and music classes, assemblies and tech upgrades, with a portion of the $150 tickets going to help families of students who were affected by Hurricane Sandy. Live music will be performed by 2010 American Idol fourth runner-up Michael Lynche and the East Coast Band. Cocktails, dinner, and dancing, plus a silent auction and raffle prizes will be featured. Sunday, February 3

RUMSON: Monmouth Reform Temple brings its fundraiser concert “A Musical Kaleidoscope” to Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School from 2 to 4 p.m. The event will feature Richard Hobson of the Metropolitan Opera, pianist Ron Levy, cabaret artist Siobhan Kolker, the Palisades Virtuosi, and the Monmouth Symphony. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 door, with all proceeds benefitting Card Work Pays Off. 74 Ridge Road.
