On December 14, 2013 Patrolman John Mele arrested a 17 year old male juvenile from Middletown, NJ, for Possession of under 50 Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was released pending a court date.

James McBurney, age 24, from Navesink, NJ, arrested on December 13, 2013 by Patrolman John Mele on a Contempt of Court warrant issued by the Keansburg Municipal Court. He was released after posting $90.00 bail.

Jennifer Smith, age 35, from Hudson Avenue in Middletown, NJ, arrested on December 14, 2013 by Patrolman Adam Colfer for Harassment. She was released after posting $500.00 bail.

MIDDLETOWN: HEROIN CHARGES FOR TRIO

call-in-the-authorities• On February 27, 2013 the Middletown Police Detective Bureau and Quality of Life Unit executed a search warrant at a Hudson Avenue residence. The warrant execution was a result of a month long investigation conducted by Detectives Kevin Gardiner and Laurence Schachtel and Officers Richard Fulham and Anthony Bumbico regarding the distribution of narcotics from the residence.

Police charged Salvatore Sarna, age 20; Scott Leimsider, age 28; and Alexnadra Sarna, age 23, with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Alexandra Sarna was also charged with Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. All three subjects lived at the residence and were released pending a court date.

KABOOM: AUTHORITIES REVIEW SECURITY

Though numerous fights and other incidents broke out downtown, authorities assessing last Saturday’s KaBoomfest say things went particularly smoothly at the Red Bank train station, thanks to the addition of trains and security personnel.

That’s in contrast to a year ago, when the station was the site of a crowd surge, long waits and numerous arrests for disorderly behavior.

And considering the number of people in town, estimated at more than 120,000, the violence that broke out elsewhere was quelled rapidly without any injuries to bystanders or police, according to Red Bank Police Captain Darren McConnell.

“There were many incidents, but they were isolated, and they were put down pretty quickly” by cops or civilians, he said.

VIOLENCE MARS FIREWORKS SHOW

A number of fights erupted during the celebration of the 51st annual Red Bank fireworks show Saturday night.

Police said they had arrested an estimated ten persons by 11p Saturday, mostly on disorderly behavior charges related to alcohol consumption.

No arrests were believed to have been made, however, in connection with a brawl involving eight or ten teenage males at the town’s busiest intersection — Broad Street at the juncture of East and West Front streets — just minutes before the fireworks show began.
