RBR: MEET THE NEW SUPERINTENDENT

louis moore 1The Red Bank Regional Board of Education is inviting community members to meet the school district’s new superintendent, Louis Moore, at a meet-and-greet event scheduled for Wednesday, June 15, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the school commons. 

Moore, who starts his new job July 1, has served as the principal of Ramapo High School in Bergen County since 2007.  He was hired by RBR in April to replace Thomas Pagano, who has served as interim superintendent since the June, 2014 departure of Jim Stefankiewicz,

louis moore 1After a two-year interval under caretaker leadership, Red Bank Regional High has hired a new superintendent.

The one-school district’s board last week approved a three-year contract with Louis Moore, the principal of Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes, in Bergen County.

Moore, who starts the new job on July 1, replaces Thomas Pagano, an Interlaken resident who has served as interim superintendent since the June, 2014 departure of Jim Stefankiewicz, who became superintendent in his hometown of Ocean Township.

just_in1Heading into a championship football game early next month and hoping to “avert a tragedy,” Red Bank Regional officials are warning students about drug and alcohol use following several incidents of severe intoxication at home games this season.

In a “letter to parents” posted on Twitter by principal Risa Clay and on the school website late Tuesday afternoon, interim Superintendent Thomas Pagano wrote that Little Silver police, as well as school security personnel and administrators “have had to intervene and assist intoxicated students who had consumed alcohol either prior to or during football games on school grounds” this season.

LITTLE SILVER: RBR GETS GRADE OF A+

rbrThe Red Bank Regional School District recently placed in the top 5 percent of all New Jersey districts, in a ranking conducted by the website Niche.com — a survey that also rated neighboring Rumson-Fair Haven as the top district in Monmouth County.

The nationwide education review website Niche recently released its national and state “Best School Districts” ratings, and ranked Red Bank Regional High School as number 31 in New Jersey, out of a total of 561 school districts — a rating that places RBR within the top 5 percent of the state’s districts.

The site also ranked RBR the third best school district in Monmouth County, behind Rumson-Fair Haven Regional (21) and Holmdel (30). Red Bank Regional received an overall school district grade of A+.

RBR APPOINTS PAGANO INTERIM SUPER

TomPaganoThe Red Bank Regional School District has appointed Thomas Pagano of Interlaken as Interim Superintendent, effective July 1, 2014.

At its June 18 meeting, the Red Bank Regional (RBR) Board of Education appointed Thomas Pagano of Interlaken as the district’s interim superintendent. His employment with the district (on a part-time basis) will begin on July 1, when Superintendent Dr. Jim Stefankiewicz leaves RBR.

Last month, the Red Bank Regional Board of Education regretfully accepted the resignation of Dr. Jim Stefankiewicz, who will assume that position in his hometown of Ocean Township.
