IN oRBit: ART IN THE PARK, CRAFT ON STAGE

Noworbiting_icon

Private Lives SMALL

If you were planning to see a live stage show this Memorial weekend, today’s
edition of Red Bank oRBit has the details on what we’re not
too timid to call three of the best shows we’ve seen all season.

There’s the tango-tini cocktail of Private Lives at Red Bank’s Two River Theater, a spicy, sexy and sophisticated revival that we branded “ingenious”
and “a first-class ticket.”

There’s Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore‘s musical High School Reunion: The Musical at Brookdale College, a world premiere romp that we call “a
cheerfully over-the-top entertainment.”

Then there’s The Housewives of Mannheim at New Jersey Repertory Company in Long Branch, a “superb drama” that’s seen its limited
run extended not once but twice.

Keeping it Long Branch for the weekend, we take it outside, where the city
prepares to inaugurate the new Broadway Park performance venue with a free
ribbon-cutting concert on Saturday afternoon.

Then on Sunday, it’s the
annual appearance of the Art in the Park event in West End, one of the
biggest outdoor art fairs in the state and the only one that’s accessible to
both beach and the Windmill.

Inside, outside, daytime, nighttime, we’re on the case 24-5, right here in Red Bank oRBit.
