The work of a single artist will constitute the merchandise at an art gallery that plans to open in Red Bank later this month.
David Banegas, a Bolivian native who splits his time between Long Branch and Delray Beach, Florida where he opened his first gallery three months ago will move his paintings in next door to Backward Glances and Via 45, says P.J. Schrantz, his partner and agent.

Banegas’ work includes lot of celebrity portraits, including Eva Longoria, Jim Morrison, Andy Warhol, Jerry Garcia and Paul Newman.
Why Red Bank? Schrantz tells redbankgreen he’s taken by the town’s “personality,” which he describes as “a mix of Hoboken and Cape May.”
Banegas frequently paints in front of a live audience, which he’s scheduled to do at the gallery opening is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday, October 28, with the proceeds of a portrait sale going to charity. Steven Delopoulos of the band Burlap to Cashmere will perform on guitar.
In other Churn news, the proprietors of two widely anticipated new businesses both say they also expect to be up and running by the end of the month. They are Nina’s Waffles & Sweets on White Street and Yestercades, a retro electronic gaming parlor, at 80 Broad Street.
