HOT-TOPIC_03The Brothers, a Red Bank bar and pizzeria darkened for the past week by a water leak, is likely to remain closed for another week or more, an owner tells redbankgreen.

Ralph Ventre was awaiting word from his insurance adjuster for the go-ahead to embark on extensive repairs to the building he and his partners own at West Front Street and Morford Place, he said Wednesday.

“It should only take about a week or so,” he said. “We’ll be open as soon as we can.”

The first-floor restaurant, and an apartment above it, were inundated when a water line that runs through the attic froze and burst before dawn on January 8, Ventre said. The cascading water took down part of the restaurant’s ceiling and caused extensive damage.

The volunteer fire department responded to the alarm of flowing water, and inspectors from the building and health departments ordered the restaurant – known for its thin-crust pizza – closed until repairs are made and inspected, Ventre said.
