AUTHORITIES_RUMSON-2016-v3An alleged armed robbery in Rumson that netted $35 and an iPhone last month landed a Middletown man and a teen accomplice behind bars, borough police reported Wednesday.

According to a press release, Rumson PD responded to a report of an armed robbery at a home on Riverside Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. on August 23.

Two juvenile victims reported that the perpetrators produced a handgun and demanded cash before fleeing the scene in their own vehicle with phone and money.

The robbery occurred at curbside and the victims did not know the perpetrators, Detective Sergeant Christopher Isherwood told redbankgreen.
An investigation by Isherwood led to the arrest of Krischan Wehnke, 18, and a 17-year old male suspect, both of Middletown.

The juvenile suspect was arrested on September 1 and remanded to the Middlesex County Youth Detention Center, police said.

Krischan Wehnke was arrested four days later by Middletown police on a warrant issued on September 2, and was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $250,000 bail set by the Superior Court Judge Joseph Quinn. Both suspects were charged with first-degree armed robbery, police said.
