An alleged armed robbery in Rumson that netted $35 and an iPhone last month landed a Middletown man and a teen accomplice behind bars, borough police reported Wednesday.
According to a press release, Rumson PD responded to a report of an armed robbery at a home on Riverside Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. on August 23.
Two juvenile victims reported that the perpetrators produced a handgun and demanded cash before fleeing the scene in their own vehicle with phone and money.
The juvenile suspect was arrested on September 1 and remanded to the Middlesex County Youth Detention Center, police said.
Krischan Wehnke was arrested four days later by Middletown police on a warrant issued on September 2, and was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $250,000 bail set by the Superior Court Judge Joseph Quinn. Both suspects were charged with first-degree armed robbery, police said.
