Longtime Westside neighborhood advocate Freddie Boynton Tuesday unwrapped a newly installed handicapped parking sign he had pressed borough officials to install on Drs. James Parker Boulevard near the intersection with Shrewsbury Avenue.
The spot sits adjacent to Coffee Corral and Elite Sports and Fitness, a gym where ZR Fit and Wellness holds frequent workout and therapy sessions for people with disabilities.
It also sits in front of Johnny Jazz Park, the location of a borough-installed plaque honoring Boynton for his boxing career and years of neighborhood advocacy.
Boynton said he has also organized a community meeting Wednesday at 5 pm to discuss a range of neighborhood concerns. The meeting will be held at the Celestial Lodge No. 36 at 141 Drs. James Parker Boulevard. Borough officials are expected to in attendance, Boynton said in a flyer announcing the meeting.
