There’s good news for drivers who regularly travel Drs. James Parker Boulevard: work crews are going to be out fixing those bumpity-bump train tracks to make the grade crossing smoother for cars.
There’s also some bad news: they have to close the road for a week to do it.
The Borough of Red Bank sent out a traffic alert Thursday alerting residents the road will be closed between Shrewsbury Avenue and Maple Avenue from Monday, November 17 to Monday, November 24.
Crews were arriving on the scene Thursday with truckloads of fresh railroad track along the freight line that crosses Drs. James Parker Boulevard west of the NJ Transit tracks. The freight line that runs from Red Bank to Lakewood is operated by the Delaware and Raritan Railroad.
Borough officials reached out to the railroad earlier this year in search of solutions after residents complained about the conditions drivers face when crossing the tracks.
