RED BANK: TOAST RISKS HEAT OVER CARD FEES

amy russo harrigan 102715Amy Russo Harrigan, owner of Toast in Red Bank and two other locations, is now imposing a 2.5-percent surcharge on customer bills paid with credit or debit cards, the Asbury Park Press reports.

Harrigan “knows she risks irritating customers; she has the social media posts to prove it,” writes reporter Michael Diamond. “But she said the [card processing] fees prevent her from hiring and offering raises to her staff, so she’s trying to figure out a way to share the burden without raising prices.” (Photo by John T. RUMSON, FAIR HAVEN: THEFT SPREE ALLEGED

HOT-TOPIC_01A Red Bank man was indicted Friday for a spending spree financed by credit cards stolen from cars in Rumson and Fair Haven, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office said.

Carl W. Bergen, 53, of 59 William Street, broke into four vehicles in the two towns over the course of a year, beginning in May, 2014, according to the 16-count indictment.

SHREWSBURY: PAIR CHARGED IN ATM SCHEME

shrews suspect 081115 1Shrewsbury police arrested two men on fraud-related charges after they rigged a bank ATM machine with data-stealing equipment Sunday, redbankgreen has learned.

Drini Kupi, 26, and Mejdina Miodrag, 32, both of Ridgewood, New York, were apprehended. A third suspect, seen in the surveillance photo at right and and below, is being sought by police, Lieutenant Bob Turner said in a prepared statement.

EX-LITTLE SILVER WORKER BUSTED FOR FRAUD

A former employee of a Little Silver business was being held in jail Wednesday on charges she used pilfered credit-card data to commit identity theft and fraud, borough police say.

Tara Galen, 35, of Brick Township was ordered held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $60,000 bail, without the option to post 10 percent, following her arrest Tuesday by Detective Gregory Oliva.
