RBR SEEKS DONATIONS FOR FITNESS CENTER

Classof_-_CopyThe Red Bank Regional High School Athletic Director Del Dal Pra receives a generous donation from members of the Red Bank High School Class of 1960, toward the completion of a new 3,000 square foot fitness center. The RBR Buc Backer Foundation recently granted $50,000 to finance half the cost of the much-needed new facility, and the Red Bank Regional School District is welcoming community donations of funds and necessary fitness equipment.

Press release from Red Bank Regional High School

For decades, the weight room adjacent to the legendary field house/ gymnasium at Red Bank Regional High School was akin to a poor stepchild; antiquated, undersized and poorly furnished.  That will soon change as the Board of Education, through their capital improvement account, was able to fund the construction of a nearly 3,000 square foot fitness center; accessed directly behind the field house structure that has hosted many athletic events (including indoor track meets) through the years.

Construction on the fitness center began this spring and will continue throughout the summer, with an anticipated opening in the fall of 2015. The center will be utilized by the entire school through gym classes that every student must take, as well as for training of RBR’s athletes — and while the construction of the fitness center for $928,000 was funded by the Red Bank Regional School District, the Board of Education hopes to furnish the space with donations from the community.
