STABBING SUSPECT HELD ON $1M BAIL

This just in from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office in Freehold:

A Middletown man was arrested Thursday and charged with stabbing a woman inside the Bed, Bath and Beyond store in Middletown, announced Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Tyrik S. Haynes, 19, of Middletown, is charged with one count each of first degree attempted murder, third degree endangering, third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and fourth degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

Haynes is accused of attempting to murder a 29-year-old Keansburg woman by stabbing her with a knife multiple times inside the Bed, Bath and Beyond store located at 1515 Route 35 northbound Thursday afternoon. The woman was pushing a child in a stroller at the time of the stabbing. Middletown Township police received multiple 911 calls around 4:09 p.m. reporting the incident inside the Bed, Bath and Beyond store.

The victim is currently being treated in a local hospital where she is listed in critical but stable condition.

Bail has initially been set at $1,050,000 by Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Thomas F. Scully, P.J.Cr. Haynes will make his initial appearance in court Friday, at 1:30 p.m. in the courtroom of Judge Scully in the Monmouth County Courthouse. Haynes is being lodged in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold Township.
