TWO ARRESTED IN SCRAP METAL THEFT

Little Silver police arrested two men early Thursday morning on charges of stealing scrap metal from Little Silver and Fair Haven businesses, police said.

They were also charged with other crimes after a joint investigation by the departments.

Paul Kirkstad, of Little Silver, and Nicholas Deluca, of Holmdel, were arrested in the area of Branch Avenue in Little Silver, Detective Sergeant Daniel Shaffery said.

FAIR HAVEN INVESTIGATING WALLET THEFTS

Fair Haven police are investigating two incidents in which juveniles are suspected of taking wallets from parked cars on two separate streets.

Police learned of the thefts Tuesday after they received a report of two young black men looking into a car on Gentry Drive, Detective Jesse Dykstra told redbankgreen. The juveniles fled the scene after being confronted by the vehicle’s owner.

“Once we got that one call, we knew we were in for something,” he said.

ANSORGE BOOKKEEPER ADMITS FRAUD

A former employee of Red Bank-based Ansorge Unlimited pleaded guilty Thursday to defrauding the advertising and publishing firm of $403,000, the Monmouth County Prosecutor announced today.

As part of a plea bargain, Rebecca Cirillo, 34, of Atlantic Highlands, admitted embezzling the funds from the publisher of Red Bank Red Hot magazine over the course of more than two years. She also pleaded guilty filing a fraudulent tax return.

Prosecutors are asking that Cirillo get five years in prison when sentenced in January by Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Richard W. English.

Passersby and boudoir-supply shoppers may have noticed something was a little off at Bath Junkie on Monmouth Street in recent weeks.

The store was empty.

But despite the resemblance to the dead-of-night departures sometimes seen in downtown Red Bank, there’s good news: the store is sticking around.

The bad news for the company that owns the shop: it was cleaned out of all its merchandise, shelves and displays, says company CEO Judy Zimmer.
