Her name may be bland Jennifer Bland but her ride is anything but.
redbankgreen spotted this glitter-pink sports car rolling through downtown Red Bank Wednesday afternoon. And attuned this week to photo ops for Paint the Town Pink, we persuaded Bland to pull over for a quick chat and a few shots.
Um, Paint the Town Pink? Never heard of it, Bland tells us.
No, she just happened to be in town, and the car has nothing to do with promoting breast cancer awareness. But it does have a health angle to it.
Bland says she bought the 2001 Toyota MR2 Spider last July after weight-loss surgery enabled her shed several hundred pounds. Her husband, who owns a body shop in their hometown of Long Branch, tricked it out an gave it that eye-grabbing paint job.
And it does draw attention. Sometimes, when she’s got her music blasting and is stopped at a traffic light, Bland says, “people come into the street and dance in front of my car.”
