Gather up the banana peels, egg shells and coffee grinds, all you greenies and wanna-bes.
The Monmouth County Planning Board is offering local workshops at which experts will go over the ins and outs of backyard composting.
The 45-minute presentations get into the practical ways to reduce household waste and improving soil quality by tossing your waste to the worms.
And for the seriously environmentally aware, the county is offering Earth Machine composting bins for $35.
Sessions will take place throughout April and May. The schedule is as follows:
· Sunday, April 10 at 10a – Deep Cut Gardens, 352 Red Hill Road, Middletown
· Thursday, April 14 at 7p – Monmouth County Library Eastern Branch, 1001 Route 35, Shrewsbury
· Saturday, May 21 at 10a – Deep Cut Gardens, 352 Red Hill Road, Middletown
The workshops are free, but space is limited and advanced registration is required. That can be done by downloading a form on the recycling section of the Monmouth County Planning Board’s website or by calling 732.431.7460.
If you intend to buy one of those Earth Machines, payment is by check only.
