A late-afternoon accident left eight passengers in a van with neck injuries and other non-life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon, Red Bank police said.
The accident, at Harding Road and Spring Street, involved a van carrying a special-needs adults, according to police Captain Darren McConnell.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the van, driven by a 42-year-old Asbury Park woman, collided with a Volkswagen sedan driven by a 17-year-old female from Wall Township after the girl ran a red light at about 4:25p, McConnell said.
The girl, who was not immediately identified, was uninjured.
Volunteer firefighters and first aiders from Red Bank, Shrewsbury and Little Silver were on the scene and taking the injured to Riverview Medical Center, he said.
