TROUBLED CULVERT FLOODED
A Middletown culvert that was undermined by flooding 17 months ago was overrun by water rushing downriver from Poricy Pond late Sunday morning.
The culvert, on Navesink River Road, near Hubbard Avenue, was designated as impassable by township police in a road conditions update posted by township police at 12:15 p.m.
A March, 2010 storm washed away portions of the roadway, leading to a three-month shutdown of that portion of the road.
