WELCOME TO SMOOCH!

SMOOCH_415x300_SOCIALWelcome to Smooch, redbankgreen‘s first-ever interactive Valentine’s page!

Smooch is where lovers, swooners and others aglow with affection can send their beloved a special message for publication on this page on Valentine’s Day.

But unlike the Valentine’s messages newspapers used to print, this one’s interactive, and comes with prizes.

That’s right. It’s interactive: if the object of your affection claims your Smooch by matching his or her email address with one you’ve submitted at the time of your Smooch purchase, you’ll BOTH be entered into drawings for $200 worth of dining and shopping in downtown Red Bank, courtesy of Red Bank RiverCenter! (See complete rules below).

But even without that, a Smooch is fun way to proclaim you love, in your own words — whether your mood is tender, funny or sexy or all three at once.

So, are you ready to give somebody a great big Smooch? Scroll down and order one in seconds!

JUST PUT YOUR LIPS TOGETHER, AND… TYPE

The warm vibes beneath the bubble of the Sickles greenhouse commence this Saturday with the return of Artists’ Day — an annual event (formerly Artists’ Weekend) that showcases the work of a dozen different creative community members amid the flora of the garden center. More →

LINCROFT: ARE YOU READY FOR SOME WINTER?

winterfestWhen life gives you winter, make Winterfest — the second annual edition of which returns to Lincroft’s Thompson Park this Saturday afternoon (pictured is a scene from the inaugural, snow-free Fest in 2015).

Winter may have made a much-delayed appearance, all at once and with a vengeance, in a way that immediately overstayed its welcome. But to the good people of the Monmouth County Parks System, the season of bare trees and bundled-up people is something to celebrate in all its sleek and spartan beauty. So when the low winter sun comes up on Thompson Park in Lincroft this Saturday, it will look down on the newly minted ritual known as Winterfest.

Going on between the hours of 1 to 5 pm, it’s the second annual edition of the event that’s designed to “banish the winter blues,” while spotlighting the many features and assets of the county’s flagship recreational facility — and this time, they’ve remembered to bring the snow.

Seventy-nine-year-old Michael Malloy was asleep when a lighted cigarette set his mattress on fire, authorities said. The officers, responding to a medical call, heard his cries for help and then crawled through the smoke-filled unit to rescue him and ensure no other victims were present, said Councilman and Police Commissioner Mike Whelan. RED BANK: BARRIS TO JAZZ UP A STEAMY NIGHT

Mike_Barris_Performs_at_Art_Alliance_Red_Bank_NJ_December_2010Noted music scholar, journalist and guitar ace Mike Barris is scheduled to play as Reckless Steamy Nights return this Friday to the Woman’s Club of Red Bank.

It’s a time of year when any perceived steaminess is probably just one’s breath fighting its way into the arctic air. But over at the old Anthony Reckless estate (home of the Woman’s Club of Red Bank), things are heating up with the first in a new season of Reckless Steamy Nights music events.

The intimate, house-party style concerts — a long-running monthly series that takes a holiday hiatus each November and December — remains a genuine “best kept secret” within a fast-changing nightscape of borough life, a presentation of the Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation that raises spirits even as it raises funds for a scholarship program of the JSJBF.

IBThe stress of the college application season is just about winding down, as students now anticipate learning where they are accepted — and, ultimately, which school they will attend. But next year at this time, the newly minted college freshmen will be dealing with other challenges, such as transitioning to the academic demands of higher education.

Recently, three students from Red Bank Regional High School were interviewed about a program they were participating in; one which they believe will serve them well once they transition to college. The students (pictured left to right: Manny Sanchez, Claire Toomey and Ray Bernard) offered their thoughts on the school’s International Baccalaureate (IB) program; first made available during the 2009-2010 school year to to upper classmen at RBR — one of only four schools in Monmouth County (and one of only 12 in the entire state of New Jersey) that offers this rigorous and internationally renowned program.
