RED BANK: STEIN PRESSES FOR DEBATE SPOT
Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein made a campaign stop Saturday at Riverside Gardens Park in Red Bank, where she addressed a rally for environmental justice and afterward, posed for group selfie with the 150 or so attendees, above.
Speaking one day after the Commission on Presidential Debates ruled that both she and Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson failed to qualify for the first debate, scheduled for September 26, Stein said she would continue to press for a spot on the stage with Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump.
“We are not going to just go quietly into the dark night,” said Stein. “We say no to two-party tyranny.”
Stein, a physician from Lexington, Massachusetts waging her second presidential run, also outlined her agenda for a “Green New Deal” to create 20 million new jobs and eliminate America’s reliance on fossil fuels by 2030.
