Maybe it was the torrid heat, who knows? But things seemed to go serially wrong for a brief time in downtown Red Bank Wednesday. First, a sewer lateral gave out on Broad Street. Then, while a borough crew worked to repair it, a lumber company truck trying to navigate a tight turn into White Street around the repair site lost its power steering, spilling slippery fluid onto the asphalt. That led to some pedestrian near-falls and a brief shutdown of the eastern end of White while workers laid down material to absorb the fluid. (Click to enlarge)
