It was the kind of Christmas delivery you won’t see coming via UPS or FedEx.
From left, a worker removes one of several tree limbs torn down by a passing segment of the house; dormers ready for delivery at the Fair Haven firehouse; and a section being lowered into place, as seen from Prospect Avenue. (Click to enlarge)
On Wednesday and Thursday, residents of the Caro Court neighborhood were treated to the sight of an instant mansion being trucked down a narrow, winding lane for assembly on a site overlooking the Navesink River.
In the process, eyebrows were raised and some tree limbs were knocked down.
“How many times do you see something like that?” said Caro Court resident and real estate agent Tina Bivona, impressed by the sight of huge house segments gliding by.
The prefab house was stored in sections at the Fair Haven firehouse property prior to delivery.
The 1.6-acre property, at 26 Caro Court, has been vacant since a fire some years ago. It’s listed in tax records as belonging to Laura Gangemi of Montclair.
