Tom Hintelmann, a lifelong Red Bank resident and teacher who served on the borough council for three decades, died Friday, according to an obituary published Saturday.
He was 85 years old.

Eight people were said to have been displaced Monday after a stolen vehicle, fleeing police, crashed into their Red Bank home early Monday morning.
As previously reported by redbankgreen, the unidentified driver fled the scene on foot after racing a stolen sedan south on Bridge Avenue and smashing into the house at 133-135 Drs. Parker Boulevard at about 1:10 a.m. Middletown and Red Bank police had attempted to intercept the car, but couldn’t catch it, authorities said.

At a hearing packed with supporters, and without a peep of objection, Red Bank’s zoning board gave unanimous approval Thursday night to a plan by St. Anthony of Padua parish to build a new social services facility on Herbert Street.
“They’ve obviously been very beneficial to the town,” said board member Sean Murphy, citing the church and its volunteers. “Unfortunately, the need is growing, but we’re very fortunate to have them.”

The needs are evident in the long lines that form at St. Anthony of Padua in Red Bank: families short on cash for food, housing, clothing and other necessities.
Now served out of a multipurpose building on Herbert Street, where the food pantry and clothing distribution operations must be set up and taken down with regularity, the Roman Catholic parish hopes to erect a new dedicated social services building, and is scheduled to make its case to the borough zoning board Thursday night.

Proceeds from the $125-per-head event were earmarked for the Red Bank Public Library and the Parker Family Health Center.

LOCAL WOMAN DEAD IN MURDER-SUICIDE

A 25-year-old Tinton Falls woman studying law in New Orleans was shot and killed by her boyfriend before he turned the gun on himself sometime over the past weekend, according to a report by NOLA.com.
Sara Lamont, described as a “brilliant” student specializing in sports law, was killed by her 28-year-old boyfriend and classmate, Wajih Mazloum, in the apartment they’d shared for the past year, according to the report. Another roommate discovered their bodies Sunday morning.
“Everybody’s just in shock, a lot of people in tears,” said Father Alberto Tamayo, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Red Bank, where Lamont was a congregant, a reader and choir member.
