Replacements for nine trees cut down last September in advance of a road repaving went into the ground on South Street in Red Bank Wednesday morning.
Last year’s tree slaughter caught residents by surprise. But it was needed, said the chair of the Shade Tree Committee, because the trees were “either hazardous or causing significant sidewalk lift.”
