Britain’s BBC News turned its lens toward Rumson last week for a report on the American business landscape, and finds that soaring prices for fuel and food have slowed the economic recovery in recent months.
Increased costs for for gasoline and groceries, as well as “the terrible winter storms that kept people at home,” have probably put a dampener on economic growth, says reporter Caroline Hepker.
She interviews store owner Jerry St-Cyr of the Rumson Market Place, who is suddenly dealing with rapidly rising prices for milk and bread. Customer Marty Pattwell talks about the hit from gas prices.
