The start of emergency repair work on the New Jersey Transit railroad crossing at Navesink River Road in Middletown appears to have been delayed, but will still take effect this week, according to signage in the area.
According to a notice on the township website, detours were to go into effect Monday, August 18. But signs posted near the crossing, located between Hubbard Avenue and Route 35, say the road will be closed beginning August 21.
Detours will put the road off-limits to vehicles 24 hours a day for approximately 10 to 12 days, according to the township notice.
The closing won’t affect rail transportation, the announcement said.
