Wednesday was a day of cold weather that included a breathtaking snow squall and an impressive sunset to the Greater Red Bank Green.
Thursday morning brought bitter cold: at 6:30 a.m., the air was at 3 degrees, and wind made it feel like 16 below zero, according to the National Weather Service.
It’s all courtesy of a polar vortex gripping a large portion of the United States and causing multi-hour flight delays at airports.
The cold was expected to linger through Friday, prompting Governor Phil Murphy to warn New Jerseyans to “stay inside” for safety.

Red Bank’s mayor and council say they’re “hopeful and optimistic” about implementing the recommendations of a bombshell parking study delivered this month.
The assertion was made Tuesday in an unusual press release that appeared to walk back comments made by Mayor Pasquale Menna and Councilman Michael Ballard to redbankgreen last week, when they termed a key recommendation in the report potentially “catastrophic” and a “terrible hit” for taxpayers.
There’s snow in the forecast for the Greater Red Bank Green this week, according to the National Weather Service. But not the ‘help empty the store shelves’ kind of snow.

One of the key recommendations of a bombshell study of Red Bank parking appears unlikely to be adopted by borough officials anytime soon, redbankgreen has learned.
At issue: the council’s annual siphoning of the surplus generated by parking meters and kiosks in order to slow property tax increases. Ending the practice, says Mayor Pasquale Menna, would be “catastrophic” for taxpayers.

You know who they are: the folks who shovel snow from their property into the street after plows have been through. Hey, maybe you’ve done it yourself.
Red Bank officials say it’s a costly pain in the neck, and plan to make it a violation enforced with “zero tolerance.”

Until then, however, the fears of immigration opponents must be met with data that demonstrates the economic benefits of immigration, he and others said.
