What’s in it?
According to shop co-owner Courtlyn Crosson, the Peanut Butter Protein Blast is made by blending ice, cold brew coffee or espresso, organic almond milk, Ghirardelli chocolate sauce, banana, peanut butter and whey protein powder together. The drink is finished with additional chocolate sauce.
Where did the idea for the Peanut Butter Protein Blast come from?
Crosson says that she started making the combination for her own lunch and later decided to put it on the menu. It has since become the most popular protein smoothie the shop offers.
Coffee Corral features a number of other protein smoothies, as well as a variety of coffee and espresso drinks. All coffee is roasted in-house by Courtlyn’s father and shop co-owner, Russ Crosson, who attended roasting school. The pair opened the shop out of a need for coffee on the West Side of town, says Courtlyn, and plan to open a second location by 2017.
What’s great about the Peanut Butter Protein Blast?
“It’s breakfast in a cup,” says Courtlyn, who notes that the filling drink can definitely serve as a meal replacement. “It’s great for after workouts too because it has caffeine, protein and peanut butter,” she says.
